Osborne Clarke has advised global logistics provider Allcargo Logistics on the acquisition of a 75 percent stake in German logistics provider Fair Trade GmbH.

The acquisition took place via the subsidiary Allcargo Belgium NV. which operates the ECU Worldwide network – a business unit of the Allcargo Group. Allcargo Logistics will be the majority shareholder of Fair Trade GmbH, while the previous owner will hold the remaining 25 percent. The acquisition considerably expands and strengthens ECU Worldwide's network of offerings in the strategically important German market. The expectations are that this acquisition will lead to synergies in the form of better capacity utilisation, higher efficiency and shorter lead times. The German competition authority (Bundeskartellamt) has already approved the acquisition.

“Fair Trade GmbH opens up untapped opportunities that will not only lead to incremental increase in revenue and margins but accelerate our sales and marketing operations in a key European Market,” says Ravi Jakhar, Chief Strategy Officer, Allcargo Logistics.

The team that advised Allcargo Logistics, led by Dr Fabian Christoph, consisted of Dr Thies Goldner, Alexandra Nautsch, Dr Hendrik Greinert (all Corporate / M&A), Dr Sebastian Hack, Susanne Schricker (both Antitrust), Dr Jens Wrede (Tax), Dr Thomas Grünvogel, Martin Launer, Dr Birgit Schmeyer, Jennifer Beckmann, Arne Hildebrand (all Commercial), Dr David Plitt, Dr Sebastian Lilje (both Labour Law), Thomas Schnabel, Romeo Szejnmann, Moritz Windheuser (all Real Estate), Dr Marc Störing, Neil Weaver (both Data Protection), Robert Briske (IP), Dr Lina Böcker and Philine Töpper (both IT).
