International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised the buyer and the management team of Acquis Insurance Management (“Acquis”) on a management buyout by Dunedin, the UK mid-market private equity house. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.

Acquis is an independent insurance broker and administrator that provides specialist solutions to the finance and leasing industry. The deal enables the current management team, led by CEO Nick Leader, to drive the business’ international growth with support and funding from Dunedin.

Acquis plans to grow its team and expand into new markets, particularly in Europe where the business has recently opened a new office in the Netherlands. Acquis will also invest in developing new products to meet a broader range of client needs.

Headquartered in Newport, Acquis provides leasing companies with insurance for leased equipment and is currently placing insurance in thirteen countries across Europe.

Partner Alisdair Livingstone and Associate Director Chris Yeo from Osborne Clarke’s Corporate Team led the transaction, along with Partner Johannes de Jong and Legal Director Clare Burman (Dutch and UK regulatory advice respectively) and Partner David Nisbet (Tax).

Osborne Clarke advises market leaders, challenger brands and fast-growth businesses in the financial services sector across all corporate issues, from equity and debt fundraisings to M&A, IPOs and JVs.
