A number of significant announcements affecting employers have been made over the summer. Our Employment Law Coffee Break summarises the headline points, including the new failure to prevent fraud offence which is now in force; non-disclosure agreements; recent calls for evidence on parental leave and unpaid internships; and the implementation roadmap for the Employment Rights Bill. Later this month we are hosting webinars on the impact of the bill and on plans to bring pension and death benefits into scope for inheritance tax from April 2027.

HM Treasury's National Risk Assessment of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing 2025, published in July, is a comprehensive evaluation of these risks in the UK. The areas it highlights will give businesses guidance as to what sectors are vulnerable to money laundering and where enforcement bodies might focus their attention and investigatory powers in the coming years. Our Insight looks at the findings.

The Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) aims to strengthen the IT security and operational resilience of financial entities within the EU, so they can withstand and recover from all types of disruptions. Osborne Clarke has prepared a set of FAQs covering the scope, requirements, risks and legislative overlaps of the DORA regulation to help businesses find clarity on compliance requirements.
