Osborne Clarke advises Milvio Energy on the sale of battery storage and PV/BESS projects

Osborne Clarke has advised Milvio Energy GmbH on the sale of a stand‑alone battery storage project (BESS) and a combined photovoltaic and battery storage project (PV/BESS).

Milvio Energy is a project developer specialising in renewable energy with a focus on large‑scale solar and storage solutions. The company identifies, develops and structures projects from early site control through permitting and grid connection procedures all the way to the ready‑to‑build phase. By combining technical expertise, strong local roots and a clear focus on bankable project structures, Milvio contributes to accelerating the energy transition in Germany.

The transaction comprises a stand‑alone battery storage project and an integrated PV/BESS scheme. The project features an 80.4 MWp PV installation alongside a 70.2 MW BESS; the co-located PV and BESS project is under development and is expected to reach ready-to-build (RTB) status in the second quarter of 2026. The contractual structure ensures that project progress, grid connection, permitting status and bankability are aligned and can gradually transition into implementation.

“The collaboration with Milvio demonstrates how dynamic the market for battery and hybrid projects currently is. Where project development and investor expertise are considered together at an early stage, complex storage projects can be moved from planning to implementation significantly faster,” says Dr Christoph Torwegge, Partner at Osborne Clarke.

The Osborne Clarke team advising Milvio Energy was led jointly by Dr Christoph Torwegge (Partner responsibility) and Julian S. Tristram and comprised Felix Jaeger, Theresa Viegener, Alexandra Abeln, Sarah Theresa Mentner, Anastasia Minich, Ole Folster and Rafael Teichmann (all Energy/M&A).
