Dr Birgit Schmeyer specialises on national and international commercial and distribution law in addition to related competition law issues. She focuses on the drafting and negotiating of commercial contracts.

Birgit advises clients primarily in the Automotive and Life Science sector on all issues relating to their operational business such as the introduction of new business models and the digitalisation of their business. Her focus is on the drafting of complex (framework) purchase and supply agreements as well as cooperation agreements and standard terms and conditions, often with cross-border implications. She also advises clients on all matters relating to warranty and compensation claims as well as product liability and product safety law.

Birgit regularly represents her clients in commercial disputes in and out of court, particularly relating to national and cross-border warranty, liability and indemnity cases.

Birgit studied German and French Law at the University of Saarland and the Centre Juridique Franco-Allemand. During her master studies at the University of Johannesburg and in her doctoral thesis she focused on franchise law and related competition law.
