Digital Platforms Forum: Platforms Under Pressure

Abstract 'online platforms' swirling in a vortex

What should your platform business prioritise for 2027?

From the developing Digital Fairness Act proposals and children’s online safety to the legal questions raised by agentic AI, there is plenty for in-house legal teams to navigate.

Join us in London for Digital Platforms Forum: Platforms Under Pressure, our flagship seminar and networking event for platform businesses. Explore what these developments mean for your business, discuss how to address the legal issues in practice and connect with peers facing similar challenges.

What to expect

The Digital Fairness Act

The European Commission's updated proposal is expected days before this event. We will take a first look at the amendments and what they will mean for platform businesses. With the UK's DMCCA regime developing on a parallel track, we'll also discuss where the two regimes are pulling in different directions and what that means for planning.

Speakers: Konstantin Ewald; Marie-Laure Pidoux; Tom Harding

Children's safety online

The pace of legislative action on children's safety online has accelerated sharply. We will cover EU KIDS ACT, UK social media restrictions and age assurance compliance issues, with a focus on where the regimes overlap, where they conflict, and what regulators expect.

Speakers:  Peter Craddock; Maria Luchian; Ben Dunham

Agentic AI and platforms

What happens when your users are not human? We will work through the contract formation, liability and regulatory risk questions that arise when autonomous software interacts with your platform.

Speakers: Lina Boecker; Chloe Deng

Regulatory blind spots

Lightning briefings on other new developments:

  • The UK's Employment Rights Act introduces significant changes to worker status, day-one rights, and enforcement powers. A focused briefing on the provisions most likely to affect platform operating models. Speaker: Olivia Sinfield
  • New EU product safety rules are redrawing the lines of responsibility for online marketplaces. A practical overview of what the regime expects and where the compliance gaps are likely to emerge. Speaker: Katie Vickery
