UK Knowledge Collection | Sharing pseudonymised data, abolition of the PSR, and digital regulation
Published on 3rd October 2025
Welcome to this week's Knowledge Collection

A judgment by the Court of Justice of the EU has clarified how personal data should be understood when pseudonymised data is shared with third parties, giving greater legal certainty to businesses who wish to transfer or use such data. Our Insight considers the impact of the ruling and how it compares to the UK position, and highlights compliance points for businesses to bear in mind when disclosing pseudonymised data.
In the UK, as part of the government's drive to streamline regulation, the Treasury is consulting on its plans to abolish the Payment Systems Regulator and consolidate its functions within the Financial Conduct Authority. Our Insight explores what regulated firms can expect from the proposed changes. The consultation is open until 20 October.
A webinar later this month will look at some rapidly evolving developments in digital regulation, in both the EU and UK, including forthcoming compliance deadlines and recent enforcement activity. Our Insight looks at the new UK advertising rules which will affect organic social media posts by gambling brands (even where they are not UK-registered).
