Since publication of the Digital Fitness Check, we have been eagerly awaiting the European Commission's response. It's been clear for a while now that this will be through the Digital Fairness Act (DFA), which has been the talk of the town — even though there's not yet a draft.
The Commission has finally launched the public consultation and the call for evidence for the impact assessment. Companies, organisations, public authorities, consumers and other stakeholders are invited to give their feedback on the initiative by filling in a questionnaire and an online form. The feedback collected will contribute to the impact assessment and inform the legislative proposal.
With the launch of the public consultation, the European Commission is specifying its considerations on the further development of European consumer law in the digital space. Even though no draft text is available yet, the consultation provides a detailed look at the regulatory priorities under consideration.
