International legal practice Osborne Clarke is growing its financial services sector team with the appointment of regulatory expert Noline Matemera as Partner.
Noline is a highly skilled financial services regulatory lawyer with a practical and pragmatic approach to advising on the financial services regulatory framework in the UK and the EU. She joins Osborne Clarke from TLT, where her clients include banks, self-invested personal pension (SIPP) providers, asset managers, payments and intermediary firms.
Noline's previous experience at one of the UK regulators has been instrumental in building a very well rounded and diverse regulatory practice.
Before joining TLT, she previously worked at Stephenson Harwood where she extensively advised investment management firms on all aspects of non-contentious regulatory matters.
Helen Parsonage, Head of Osborne Clarke's Financial Institutions Group, said: "Noline will be a fantastic addition to our team. She is a very well-respected, technically excellent lawyer who will help us explore untapped opportunities in the sector and grow her already well-established practice internationally.
Noline has an exceptional skillset in financial regulation having trained with the regulator, which will be a huge asset not only to the team, but also across multiple sectors and service lines within the firm."
Noline also commented: "I'm absolutely delighted to be joining the team at Osborne Clarke. The firm's global reach is impressive and will be an unparalleled springboard to exploring international opportunities with existing clients and contacts, which is something I look forward to very much. My unique skills and experience complement those of the team extremely well, and I am excited about the opportunities the Osborne Clarke platform will open to develop my practice further."
Osborne Clarke's financial services sector team advises clients ranging from start-ups, scale-ups/growth businesses and FinTech unicorns to challenger banks, payments, retail and consumer finance, platforms, large corporates and institutions as well as lenders, investors and industry bodies and regulators. The payments team is one of the most experienced legal teams working in this industry and is recognised by legal directories and commentators as market-leading.
Osborne Clarke's Business Transactions Group (BTG) has 60 Partners and over 140 fee-earners working across London, Reading and Bristol and accounts for around a third of the firm's business. Newly elected leadership will take over at the end of October, which will see Mark Wesker as Head of BTG, Greg Leyshon as Co-Chair of International Corporate Group, Helen Parsonage as Head of Financial Institutions Group, Alistair Francis as UK Head of Corporate, Tim Hewens as UK Head of Private Equity and Nikki Worden as International Financial Services Sector Lead.
