Osborne Clarke Osborne Clarke has advised the Frankfurt-based software company node.energy on a EUR 15 million Series B financing round. The round was led by DeepTech & Climate Fonds (DTCF) and eCAPITAL ENTREPRENEURIAL PARTNERS, with participation from existing investors such as High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Bitstone Capital, and BonVenture.
With its PPA platform, node.energy enables medium-sized companies to conclude direct supply contracts for energy procurement, known as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), with operators of photovoltaic and wind power plants. Due to the complex processes involved in the energy industry, this type of electricity procurement was previously only available to very large consumers such as BASF or Amazon. Additionally, the platform can be used to manage supply processes, invoicing and the transparent provision of energy data for reporting and controlling purposes.
Now, node.energy has successfully completed its Series B financing round of EUR 15 million. With the newly acquired capital, node.energy will continue to invest in the development of its platform and the integration of storage solutions within the near future, aiming to create new revenue sources for operators of wind and solar projects and help make the energy transition more cost-efficient and sustainable.
“Digitalisation and the integration of storage solutions are crucial for a sustainable energy supply,” said Matthias Karger, founder and CEO of node.energy. “Storage technologies make it possible to use wind and solar power more efficiently, ensuring stable prices and a reliable supply even in times of fluctuating generation.”
The Osborne Clarke team advising node.energy on this funding round, led by Dr Benjamin Monheim, consisted of Sarah Julia von Bühler, Fenja Striesow and Victor Robertz (all Corporate), Dr Lina Böcker, Maximilian Bodamer, Veda Frese and Tim Schmetzer (all IT), Alexander Schlicht and Nils-Frederik Wiehmann (both Employment), Susanne Schricker (Commercial) and Tim Florian Metzmeier (Tax).
