Osborne Clarke expands European reach with new Frankfurt office, strengthening private capital and transaction offering
Published on 1 September 2026
Osborne Clarke is opening a new office in Frankfurt am Main on 1 September, significantly enhancing its European capability in private equity, M&A, finance, technology and corporate. The opening extends Osborne Clarke's presence in one of Europe's key financial centres and responds to growing client demand for support on private capital and financing transactions for clients across Europe, the UK, the US and Asia. The opening of the office comes in Osborne Clarke’s 25th anniversary year in Germany and clearly signals the start of its next phase of growth.
Placing the firm at the centre of European deal‑making, the new office will offer clients advice on small- and mid-cap private equity and M&A transactions, acquisition and corporate financings, as well as complex transformation and reorganisation processes.
Frankfurt, as a leading centre for banking, finance and technology, and home to the ECB and other major supervisory authorities, is a central hub in Europe’s private capital ecosystem. The new Frankfurt office strengthens Osborne Clarke’s ability to support clients across the entire lifecycle of private equity and credit investments – from fund structuring through to acquisitions and financings – and M&A transactions.
The Frankfurt office will open with Partner Johannes Goossens, who joins Osborne Clarke on 1 September 2026. He joins from White & Case, where he was a local partner in the global private equity and M&A practice. Johannes Goossens specialises in complex private equity and M&A transactions, with a particular focus on the technology and financial sectors as well as cross-border deals.
Nicolas Gabrysch, Managing Partner at Osborne Clarke in Germany, commented:
“Frankfurt is where capital, technology, regulation and industry converge. With the new office, which coincides with Osborne Clarke's 25th anniversary in Germany, and perfectly fits our strategy, we are also responding to the wishes of many clients and supporting them even better than before with strategic transactions, financing processes and complex transformation projects. We are very happy to bring Johannes Goossens on board – he is a very experienced transaction expert in the German‑speaking PE and tech M&A market, and his profile is a tailor‑made fit for the requirements of our new location.”
With the opening in Frankfurt, Osborne Clarke further strengthens its existing European platform, deepening its presence in key financial centres that matter for complex financial structures and transactions. The new office adds deep transactional, banking and supervisory expertise, enabling Osborne Clarke to handle cross-border mandates in a fully integrated way – from a single platform, across national borders.
Johannes Goossens, Partner at Osborne Clarke's Frankfurt office, said:
“For me, opening in Frankfurt is more than a career move – it is an opportunity to create genuine added value for our clients, who think and act across borders: with an integrated team, a strong platform and consistent advisory quality. I am very much looking forward to building the Frankfurt office as part of the Osborne Clarke team and to playing a key role in the further development of the firm.”
Phased development of the Frankfurt office
Osborne Clarke plans to develop its Frankfurt office in two phases: in an initial step, a focused team of up to 20 lawyers will be established, supplemented by the regular presence of additional partners from the existing German network. In the longer term, a significantly larger expansion is planned.
The new Frankfurt office is located at Bockenheimer Landstraße 39.
