International law firm Osborne Clarke has advised Founders Forum LLP on its significant minority stake in tech-focused law firm, Chronos Law.

Launched by co-founder of lastminute.com Brent Hoberman in 2005, Founders Forum delivered peer-to-peer services to European entrepreneurs. It has since expanded into a network of entrepreneur-led businesses, providing funds to technology start-ups in various industries.

Chronos Law provides a full service offering in the financial and regulatory tech sector, focusing on young to medium-maturity tech companies in high-growth mode. Founded by fintech specialist and IT Solicitor Tom Bohills (formerly White & Case) in 2019, the firm combines private practice experience with the availability and in-depth knowledge of an in-house General Counsel.

Subject to SRA approvals, the deal will see Chronos rebranded as Founders Law, but operating as an independent business, as it becomes part of Founders Forum's growing professional services offering. The firm will provide its flexible legal services to Founders Forum's network of high-growth tech scaleups in areas including fundraising, commercial agreements, employment law and data protection.

The Osborne Clarke team assisting Founders Forum was led by Partner Tom Try supported by Senior Associate John Jarvis and Associate Kamila Bochenek.

Founders Forum is a long-standing client of Osborne Clarke, having previously advised the company on its joint venture with Informa Tech.

Osborne Clarke’s Corporate team is a go-to practice for companies in the Tech, Media & Comms and Fintech sectors. Its clients range from global businesses to fast-growth start-ups and market challengers. The team advises at every stage of company development across all corporate issues, from equity and debt fundraisings to M&A, IPOs and JVs.
