Osborne Clarke opens Luxembourg office, strengthening European private markets and funds offering

Published on 3 September 2026

International legal practice Osborne Clarke announces a new office just opened in Luxembourg, placing it at the centre of European private equity and funds activity and significantly enhancing its European capability. It will advise on fund formation, private equity and M&A transactions, cross‑border structuring and restructuring, and financing, working seamlessly with colleagues across its wider international network to provide an integrated service across funds, regulatory, corporate, banking & finance and tax.

This coincides with the opening of Osborne Clarke’s new Frankfurt office on 1 September. With two new offices opening in the same week in Europe’s leading financial centres, the firm is expanding its private markets and funds offering, and responding to growing client demand for joined‑up support on private equity and credit investments across Europe, the UK, the US and Asia.

Luxembourg is the second‑largest investment fund domicile in the world after the US and a leading jurisdiction for private equity, cross‑border transactions and international group restructurings. Together with Frankfurt – a major centre for banking, finance and technology – the new offices strengthen Osborne Clarke’s ability to support clients across the lifecycle of private equity,  private credit investments and other alternative strategies, from fund launches and platform structuring through to acquisitions and financings, in a market that now hosts trillions of euros in assets under management.

The Luxembourg office will be led by Partners Anne‑Gaelle Delabye and Gerard Maitrejean who joined Osborne Clarke on 1 September 2026. Anne-Gaelle joins from Ogier where she was a partner in the investment funds team and will lead the firm’s Investment Funds and Regulatory group. Formerly Head of Corporate at CMS, Gerard will lead the Corporate and M&A group. Both partners and their team are praised by their clients for the quality of their work, the responsiveness of their services, the capacity to offer pragmatic solutions and value for money services.

Additionally, partner Mathilde Ostertag, will lead the Luxembourg tax group. As a seasoned specialist, she is recognised in Chambers Europe and ITR World Tax as a leading tax practitioner in Luxembourg. Nicolas Mille, who brings 20 years' experience acting for both lender and borrower side on multijurisdictional transactions, will lead the Banking and Finance group.

Luxembourg is far more than a fund domicile: it is a global centre for designing, launching and distributing sophisticated investment strategies. Its continually evolving legal and regulatory toolbox gives us exceptional scope to create structures tailored to private equity, private credit and other alternative investment strategies, investor profiles and cross-border ambitions, while providing a proven platform for distribution across Europe and international markets. Luxembourg is also a major hub for financial institutions, including payment and electronic money institutions, and is building a credible position in tokenised funds and securities and digital finance more broadly. By combining this breadth of capability with Osborne Clarke’s international reach, we can help clients build innovative, scalable platforms that evolve with their business.
