Osborne Clarke appoints new partner Tom Webley to Disputes & Risk team
Published on 12 October 2026
International legal practice Osborne Clarke has appointed Tom Webley as a partner in its Disputes & Risk team in London. Tom will play a key role in bolstering Osborne Clarke’s financial services litigation, as well as enhance the firm's bench strength in high-value, cross-border disputes. He will support growth across core sectors including private capital, fintech, banks and professional services.
Tom is an experienced commercial disputes lawyer specialising in complex, cross border financial services litigation, spanning a range of financial services products and sub-sectors including structured and asset-backed finance, corporate trusts, private credit and non-bank lending, and central banking. He joins Osborne Clarke from Reed Smith, where he has been a partner since 2016 and led the firm’s Banking and Financial Services Litigation team in London.
Tom's recent experience includes advising a major international investment bank, acting as corporate trustee, on multi billion dollar disputes involving GDP linked securities, advising a Eurasian central bank on multi-jurisdictional enforcement defence, acting for non-bank lenders and funds in relation to claims against borrowers and representing investors in commercial mortgage-backed securities disputes involving alleged sales at an undervalue.
His arrival will strengthen Osborne Clarke’s London disputes practice. His sector expertise and track record in building strong client relationships will enhance Osborne Clarke’s contentious and non contentious financial services offering - including commodities trading and financial markets work - in the UK and internationally.
We are thrilled to be welcoming Tom to our disputes team. His practice is built on deep sector insight with many years of cross-border litigation experience, along with trusted relationships with major financial institutions, trustees and funds. Tom's recruitment is a part of our continued investment in the growth of our disputes practice and will strengthen the support we can provide to clients on complex, high value, multi jurisdictional disputes.
I am delighted to be joining the partnership of Osborne Clarke - it has an excellent and well-established reputation for helping clients with both contentious and non-contentious financial services needs and a truly impressive international presence. This provides a real opportunity, with a strong platform for high value, cross border financial services litigation, and the chance to work closely with transactional and advisory teams to provide joined-up and comprehensive support for clients. I’m very excited at the thought of helping to grow the firm's financial services disputes practice and expanding our client portfolio.
