Osborne Clarke advises KSK-Wagniskapital GmbH on investment in BETTER CAKEZ

Osborne Clarke has provided legal advice to KSK-Wagniskapital GmbH on its investment in Cologne-based food start-up BETTER CAKEZ. The company, which produces vegan, gluten-free cakes made from vegetables, has raised a total of EUR 810,000 as part of its second financing round.

BETTER CAKEZ positions itself at the intersection of better-for-you snacking, functional food and sustainable nutrition. Based on its own organic and IFS-certified production in Germany, the start-up offers ready-to-eat snack cakes that do not require refrigeration, are packaged in 100% plastic-free materials and contain up to 30% vegetables as well as a high nut content. The products are vegan, gluten-free, free from refined sugar, preservatives and palm oil – thereby addressing the growing demand for healthy, everyday alternatives in the confectionery and snack segment.

The financing round was led by KSK-Wagniskapital GmbH. The investment is intended primarily to accelerate the further growth of BETTER CAKEZ in existing and new sales channels. The focus is on expanding brand awareness, opening up additional markets and securing product listings in the food retail sector.
