Peter van der Horst

Peter is a debt finance lawyer with a broad experience in corporate law, real estate financing and restructuring.
In 2008 he started his legal career as lawyer with Allen & Overy LLP where he worked in the Banking & Finance and the Corporate Litigation department. From 2013 until 2015 he was working as in-house senior legal counsel with the listed company Arcadis. In 2015 Peter joined Osborne Clarke N.V. (Netherlands) as M&A lawyer and in 2016 he completed the post graduate M&A course at the Grotius Academy. For several years Peter did both M&A transactions and Banking & Finance transactions. Since 2018 Peter has focussed on Banking & Finance alone, with real estate financing as his specialty.
He is a creative and pragmatic lawyer with a broad experience corporate law, (cross border) M&A and financings. He is experienced in handling complex legal matters and able to give commercial and pragmatic advice to his clients. Peter's main focus is on The Built Environment and the Financial Services sectors.
Peter has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):
– General practice (civil law)
– Insolvency law
Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.

Advised an investment fund that provided a mezzanine financing to a real estate portfolio (range EUR 5-15M).
Advised as lead counsel to the JV company of Cairn Real Estate and AT Capital in relation to a EUR 35-45M acquisition financing relating to the acquisition of a real estate portfolio.
Together with Osborne Clarke UK we recently advised an international Bank in relation to the financing of the acquisition of an Hotel in the UK by a Dutch investor and asset manager.
