Matt is a corporate lawyer whose practice focuses primarily on renewable and conventional energy, utilities and infrastructure. Matt brings a particular focus on energy transition and decarbonisation.

His practice is centred on M&A and investment work, together with joint venture and equity arrangements for projects and project financings.

Matt has worked in the City of London for over 15 years, with M&A expertise spanning the UK mid-market through to premium cross-border transactions. As well as London, Matt has spent time working with clients and in the US, Eastern Europe and the CIS.

He advises clients on the corporate lifecycle of energy projects as well as the energy transition across a range of technologies, for example batteries, solar, biogas, energy from waste, wind, carbon capture and hydrogen, as well as significant experience in PPPs and regulated transportation and logistics infrastructure.

Matt also acts for commodities and energy trading companies, with a particular focus on voluntary low carbon permit trading, project structuring and financing.

Matt's practice is underpinned by a broad grounding in more generalist M&A, private equity, venture capital and investment work. He is well versed in advising clients investing across the capital stack in both emerging and established technology classes in energy and beyond.
