After graduating in Spain, Carlos moved to Italy in 1994 to attend specialisation courses at the University of Milan, graduating in 1997. He then completed his training with an MBA in Barcelona, thanks to a grant from the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Barcelona. Carlos joined Osborne Clarke in 1995 to strengthen and develop relations with Spain and Latin America.
He now has nearly two decades of specialism in the life sciences and healthcare sector, working closely with international pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare companies on drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, clinical studies and clinical research agreements, anti-bribery issues, and in regulatory compliance programmes.
As a leader of Osborne Clarke’s Italian-Spanish team, he advises a wide variety of organisations, including hospitals, corporations and telemedicine providers on everything from public tenders and sponsorship of professional medical training, through to patient support programmes and the development of medtech and digital platforms.
Many of these clients are entities within major international groups, and thanks to his education and experience, Carlos is able to advise them directly in their own languages. Equally, due to his deep understanding of their cultures and legal systems, he can offer high-quality multidisciplinary services, adapted to their specific needs.
Carlos is also actively involved with the legal institutions of both Italy and Spain, and regularly publishes in the journal of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Milan on investment opportunities and developments in legislation.
