UK Knowledge Collection | Climate change and states' obligations, carried interest, and compliance webinar series

Welcome to this week's Knowledge Collection

A recent advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice on the obligations of states in respect of climate change has concluded that the principal climate change treaties impose legally binding obligations on states to prevent climate harms, to adopt mitigation and adaption measures to reduce greenhouse gases and to cooperate in good faith. Our Insight looks at the implications of this decision, which is not directly enforceable, and at what businesses can expect in terms of future regulation, litigation and compliance risk.

A new tax regime for carried interest will come into effect next April. Our Insight looks at the detail of the proposed changes, which amount to a significant overhaul of the rules, and the impact on fund managers.

And our Eating Compliance for Breakfast webinar series returns in September, beginning with sessions on the EU's omnibus package, which aims to simplify reporting and due diligence obligations on business, and on the latest developments in the passage of the government's Employment Rights Bill. Also in September, our products team will be hosting a seminar at our London office to discuss the implications of the Product Regulation and Metrology Act 2025 and other regulatory reforms on product safety and the circular economy.
