Osborne Clarke's Restructuring and Insolvency team has been nominated as Restructuring Team of the Year at the British Legal Awards 2022.

The team has been nominated for its work advising on the complex restructuring of Wirecard UK which is one of the biggest, and probably quickest, solvent wind-downs in the payments field.

The assignment was led by Will Gunston, head of Osborne Clarke's London Restructuring & Insolvency team, working with the firm's financial institutions group, regulatory, corporate, and commercial litigation teams.  The team included partners Paul Anning, Mark Wesker, Nigel Boobier Rachel Couter and Charles Crowne.  Lawyers included Claire Bundy, Clare Burman, Rebecca Roughley, Aisling Connaughton and Sam Furse.

Osborne Clarke worked closely with stakeholders including the Bank of England, the FCA, Mastercard, and Visa, and continues to advise on the carefully controlled solvent wind-down plan.

The British Legal Awards are now in their 13th year and are established as one of the world's premier legal awards, representing the best of the best within the UK and international legal sector.

The full list of nominations for 2022 can be found on the awards website.  At last year's ceremony Osborne Clarke won UK Law Firm of the Year.

Osborne Clarke’s restructuring and insolvency group has also advised on matters relating to the restructurings of the fintech business Neyber, retailers Peacocks, Bonmarché, Laura Ashley and Oasis/Warehouse, and acting for the consortium that purchased the Jewish Chronicle newspaper.
