International law firm Osborne Clarke has appointed Conrad Purcell as a partner in its Projects, Real Estate and Finance team. Conrad will play a central role in expanding the firm’s project finance capabilities and supporting the growth of its energy transition and infrastructure offering in the UK and internationally.

An experienced project finance lawyer, Conrad specialises in the financing of energy and infrastructure assets across EMEA. Throughout his career, he has built a strong network of sponsors, lenders and developers in the energy transition, battery storage and data centre markets, and is experienced in structuring bankable and investable projects and drafting and negotiating finance documents for complex, cross‑border transactions.

Conrad's client portfolio and recent mandates underline the scale and sophistication of his practice. His experience includes advising the borrower group on a US$1.35 billion English law cross-border multi-currency reserve-based revolving credit facility, acting on the award-winning project financing of Raxio’s pan-African data centre platform, which received IJ Global’s “Digital Infrastructure Deal of the Year, Africa 2026”, and advising KX Power on its £200 million battery storage joint venture with BlackRock to develop a series of UK BESS projects. He also advised an investor in relation to the funding of a number of concentrated solar power (CSP) projects with co-located thermal energy storage facilities for the manufacture of sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF).

Conrad joins Osborne Clarke from Haynes and Boone LLP, having previously practised at Bird & Bird.  His arrival will strengthen the firm's ability to support clients across the energy transition sector.

Energy transition is a central growth area for our firm and project finance is critical to delivering the next generation of energy transition and infrastructure projects. Conrad’s international project finance experience, especially in battery storage and data centres, adds real depth to our team and strengthens our support for ambitious, cross‑border investments.

Michelle McGurl, Partner and Practice Group Head for Projects, Finance and Real Estate at Osborne Clarke.

Osborne Clarke has a strong reputation in the energy transition, battery storage and data centre sectors, and a clear strategic focus on project finance as a growth area. Joining the firm gives me an excellent platform to support clients on sophisticated, cross‑border financings, while working alongside talented colleagues in projects, real estate, construction and planning. I’m looking forward to helping expand the firm’s project finance expertise and to contributing to its work on complex energy and infrastructure transactions.
