Matt Suter

Matt is an Associate Director in Osborne Clarke's London Commercial team, specialising in the telecoms sector. A telecoms regulatory expert with extensive transactional experience, he advises communications providers, technology businesses and enterprise customers on the full spectrum of regulatory and commercial issues affecting the sector.

He supports telecoms and technology clients on a day-to-day basis with transactional and regulatory matters including:

• Launching new B2B and B2C telecoms and connectivity products in the UK and internationally
• Conducting UK telecoms regulatory audits and compliance reviews
• Helping international businesses to coordinate and streamline their telecoms compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions
• Drafting and negotiating wholesale, resale and agency agreements for communications services, tailored to clients' commercial and risk priorities
• Preparing providers for compliance with the Telecoms Security Act and associated regulations and codes of practice
• Advising on the regulation, deployment and distribution of internet‑of‑things (IoT) and machine‑to‑machine (M2M) solutions
• Providing guidance on call and message monitoring solutions, including compliance with the Investigatory Powers Act and related privacy and interception regimes

Matt has spent a significant amount of time on secondment with some of the largest companies in the telecoms industry. This experience gives him a clear understanding of the pressures on in‑house legal and compliance teams and the need for advice that is pragmatic, commercial and concise.
