Johannes advises national and international corporations as well as mid-sized companies on matters of intellectual property, in particular on patent law and other technical protection rights, as well as the Law against Unfair Competition (UWG). In addition to representing in legal disputes in or out of court, he also supports clients in drafting and negotiating contracts.
Johannes has particular experience in providing advice on international patent disputes and technology related arbitration.
His clients particularly include companies from the automotive supply industry. He advises these companies in court disputes, licensing and cooperation contracts, and on employee invention law.
In addition, he has experience in advising clients on technology related digital matters. His regular advice includes, inter alia, access to data claims with respect to patent, database and competition law. Johannes is co-author of the book “Artificial Intelligence” on the legal implications of AI and machine learning published in 2020.

Johannes studied in Bonn, Paris, and Lausanne. He was an academic assistant with the Chair of Civil Procedural Law of the University of Bonn and completed his doctorate in patent law. His thesis dealt with the use of patents and utility models as collateral. He is also a graduate of the LL.M. Intellectual Property program at the University of Dusseldorf. During his legal clerkship with the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg, Johannes worked for the German Embassy in Ireland, as well as for two international law firms in Hamburg and London.
He is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR), the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP) and a visiting lecturer at the University of Bonn for patent law.
Johannes was admitted to the bar in January 2010 and is partner of the firm since 2019. Prior to joining Osborne Clarke, he was a member of the patent litigation team at an international law firm in Düsseldorf.
