Jan Pot has a litigation practice in which intellectual property and technology play a central role. He coordinates a cross-practice litigation team and represents clients in complex, large-scale disputes, including cartel damages claims and class actions under the WAMCA regime. Jan represents, among others, several of the largest tech companies in privacy- and competition-related disputes.
Jan began his career in 2013 as a patent litigator and has since assisted a wide range of clients in complex national and international patent disputes before the Dutch courts and the European Patent Office, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical and mechanical engineering sectors. He is a registered UPC representative.
Jan is also admitted to the Supreme Court bar and handles cassation proceedings in the field of IP and technology, a specialism practised by only a handful of lawyers in the Netherlands.
Prior to being admitted to the bar, Jan spent several years as an external court clerk at the Amsterdam District Court. He studied law in Amsterdam (University of Amsterdam) and New York (Columbia Law School), and is a member of AIPPI. Jan regularly publishes in IP journals and is a co-author of the loose-leaf commentary on the Dutch Patent Act.
