UK Knowledge Collection | Cyber security, low-carbon infrastructure, and pensions reform

Welcome to this week's Knowledge Collection

Cyber security, low-carbon infrastructure, and pensions reform

A policy statement on the government's new Cyber Security and Resilience Bill has given an indication of the updates planned to the current regime. Our Insight looks at the current regulations, what is likely to change and who will be in scope, as well as at how the rules compare to the EU's new cyber security compliance regime, known as NIS2.

In line with the government's Clean Power 2030 goals, it has published a working paper for consultation that proposes a more consistent and potentially mandatory approach to community benefits schemes for energy developers as well as exploring whether to mandate shared ownership schemes in local renewables projects. Both proposals are aimed at facilitating the deployment of low-carbon infrastructure. Our Insight considers the scope and implications for developers of these proposals.

Finally, this week, the government published a number of responses to consultations on pensions reforms, including on the Local Government Pension Scheme, on unlocking the defined contribution pensions market and on options for defined benefit schemes. Our experts will consider the impact of these proposed changes on trustees and employers at our Pensions Coffee Break webinar, next week.
