Published on 28th Feb 2024

The MITECO opened for public participation, with a deadline that ended 22 February 2024, the regulatory order for the tender to grant access capacity at the Just Transition Node ("NTJ") of Lancha 220 kV, as well as three previous public consultations to develop the bases for the tender for access capacity at the NTJs La Pereda 220 kV, Narcea 400 kV, and Meirama 220 kV

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) and the Institute for Fair Transition (ITJ) are making progress in holding fair transition competitions in Andalucia, Asturias and Galicia.

These tenders will allow grid access rights to be granted to renewable energy projects in areas linked to the closure of coal-fired power plants. Priority will be given to projects that minimise environmental impact and maximise local socio-economic benefits.

In Andalusia, the ITJ has carried out the public information phase of the regulatory bases of the tender for the NTJ de Lancha 220 kV, which will allow the development of renewable energy projects in the municipalities affected by the closure of the Puente Nuevo thermal power plant in Espiel.

In Asturias, the pre-public consultation has been carried out for the tenders of the NTJs of Narcea 400 kV and La Pereda 220 kV, related to the closure of the Narcea thermal power plants in Tineo and La Pereda in Mieres, respectively.

In Galicia, the access capacity to the electricity grid of the future Maciñeira 400 kV substation, in the Fair Transition Agreement area of As Pontes, will be put out to tender.

These tenders aim to promote employment, training, the development of energy communities and support for industrial, agricultural or social projects in fair transition zones. Socio-economic benefits for the territory will be valued, as well as the participation of local investors.
