Mexico makes its way towards its third clean energy auction where solar projects are expected to be the most successful and prices are expected to reach record low levels for both solar and wind. Meanwhile, the Mexican economy has proven to be resilient in light of the slowdown in global trade volumes. Hence, inspiratia’s riskWatch score for Mexico increased from 75.20% to 75.46%, with a positive outlook

The third clean energy auction that will run through Q3 2017 and conclude in November will be sure to draw the attention of global market players. Prices for electricity went down to record low levels of US$34 (£26.4 €30.3) per MWh for wind and US$28 (£21.7 €24.9) per MWh for solar in the second auction that took place in September 2016, so the third auction will be expected to build on these results.
