Welcome to the Destination 2023 podcast homepage

Destination 2023 is a series of 10 podcasts designed for trustees and employers who are looking to secure their members' benefits with an insurer. We will be talking to members of our own pensions legal team and various experts from different areas of the pensions risk-transfer industry.

Each episode focusses on a particular area. We discuss the key issues to be aware of and how best to prepare for and undertake a buy-in and buy-out project.

The topics for the ten podcasts are:

  • How do you prepare your scheme for market?
  • Why is insurance seen as the gold standard?
  • What common legal issues arise when preparing for buy-in?
  • How do you prepare your data for buy-in?
  • How should you invest your scheme assets before buy-in?
  • How does a typical buy-in policy work?
  • How do you protect yourself from personal liability?
  • What do you do with surplus assets?
  • How and when should you communicate with members?
  • What does the future of the buy-in market look like?

Our podcasts are aimed primarily at trustees and employers of schemes that are considering purchasing a buy-in policy but may be of interest to anyone advising in the bulk annuity market.

If you've listened to our podcasts and still have some questions or would like us to cover any other aspect of purchasing a buy-in policy or the bulk annuity market then we'd be delighted to hear from you. Please contact us with any suggestions.
