What’s the right price? A closer look at the EU Price Indication Directive – Key changes and recent decisions
Recently there have been many changes in terms of consumer protection due to the Omnibus Directive. The Price Indication Directive is a result of the reform and intended to ensure that companies within the EU adhere to the same pricing standards. This directive aims to enable consumers to easily evaluate and compare the prices of products on the basis of homogenous and transparent information.
EU states had to implement the directive into national laws. This led to changes, e.g., in the German Price Indication Ordinance (PAngV); Italy on the other hand is lagging behind in the implementation of the Omnibus Directive, but the Italian Competition Authority has stepped up its enforcement to tackle misleading practices relating to price indication. The amends poses new challenges for the fashion and luxury industry. In this webinar, we will discuss with our experts from Germany and Italy:
- Key changes due to the Price Indication Directive
- Pitfalls for sellers
- Possible enforcement actions and fines
- Big cases that have recently occurred in Germany and Italy
