Osborne Clarke strengthens its Commercial and Regulatory practice – Paweł Borek joins the firm as of Counsel

Published on 3 November 2026

Paweł Borek, a lawyer with over 30 years’ professional experience and one of Poland’s most recognised experts in food law, is joining the Osborne Clarke Poland team.

His appointment represents a further strengthening in recent months of the firm’s expertise in projects for the Retail & Consumer sector, providing advice on food, supplements, and chemical and raw materials regulations.

As a result, Osborne Clarke Poland has become the only international law firm with such an interdisciplinary and experienced team dedicated to the retail sector. It offers support across the entire value chain – from raw materials, through production and product launch, to food, packaging and product regulations, distribution and tolling agreements, competition-related inspections and proceedings, and the implementation of e-commerce regulations.

Paweł Borek is an experienced lawyer specialising in food law in the broadest sense. For many years, he has been advising food manufacturers, importers, distributors and retail chains on regulatory, product and food safety issues, as well as regulations concerning food supplements.

He represents clients during inspections by administrative authorities and before administrative courts, and also supports businesses in matters relating to product labelling, regulatory compliance, placing products on the market and relations with supervisory authorities. He is also the only member in Poland of the Food Lawyers Network, a global organisation bringing together practising lawyers specialising in food law. Paweł is also joining the Retail Ahead Academy as a lecturer; this programme, run by the firm’s experts for managers in the retail sector, aims to prepare managers in this field for regulatory challenges.

Establishing a partnership with such an outstanding expert as Paweł Borek now enables us to provide comprehensive support to clients in the retail sector. His experience and knowledge in the areas of packaging, the deposit-refund scheme and ROP – as confirmed by various rankings – combined with his strong expertise in food law, represent a much-anticipated and, in fact, entirely natural response to our clients’ needs. We are delighted to have Paweł on board!

We are delighted that a lawyer with such extensive experience and a recognised market standing is joining Osborne Clarke. “For years, Paweł has been supporting entrepreneurs in running and developing their businesses in a highly regulated environment, and his practical approach to clients’ needs fits perfectly with the way we work.

Olgierd Świerzewski, co-managing partner at Osborne Clarke.

I am delighted to be starting my collaboration with Osborne Clarke. From our very first discussions, I could see that we share a similar view of the role of a lawyer as a business partner who not only identifies risks but, above all, helps clients achieve their objectives. I am convinced that, together, we will be able to effectively support clients in the safe growth of their businesses.

Paweł Borek, of Counsel at Osborne Clarke.
