International law firm Osborne Clarke has appointed Peter Day as its new London location head from 1st January 2021.

Peter will succeed David Cubitt who will have fulfilled his two three year terms at the end of 2020.

The London location head's principal role is to ensure that the London office maintains the highest standard of working environment while embracing best practice and new technology and acting on feedback from employees.  This includes ultimate responsibility for managing all aspects of the office from the physical fabric and fit-out, through to technology and managing support services such as catering and  concierge.

An important part of the role is having a seat on Osborne Clarke's Partnership Council which provides guidance to and oversees the work of the Executive Board.

Peter has been co-head of Osborne Clarke's real estate team since 2015 and is a real estate lawyer advising clients on individual and portfolio investment and development matters. His work advising clients on flexible workspaces, is especially relevant during the Covid-19 pandemic. New and innovative ways of working will increasingly be required to enable employees and clients to come to the office safely without any loss of productivity.

One of David Cubitt's achievements during his tenure was the transformation of the London office into one of the finest and most technologically advanced offices in the capital. The move to flexible home and office working (a project delivered with the IT and facilities teams), was a major factor in Osborne Clarke's ability to seamlessly move to remote working when the Covid-19 pandemic forced the country into lockdown in March.  As a result, disruption to the business, to clients and to revenue was not as significant as it could have been.

Andrew Saul, senior partner, Osborne Clarke, commented: "Over the last six years, David has done a great job in leading the physical transformation of the office while at the same time helping to maintain and enhance our culture during a period of sustained growth.  As all organisations address how best to use their office space going forward, Peter is very well placed to head the London office given his specialist real estate knowledge and skills."

Peter Day commented: "David and the team have done a fantastic job with the refurbishment and reconfiguring of the London office.  The timing was prescient with our 'connected working' concept helping everybody in the firm cope with the pandemic. Covid-19 has proven how important it is to maintain a flexible space and I am excited at seeing how we change the way we use our office so that it evolves in a post-Covid world for the benefit of clients and employees."
