Osborne Clarke advised KSK-Wagniskapital GmbH on its investment in the Aachen-based impact start-up everwave as part of a growth financing round. In addition, the Viessmann Generations Group joined as a strategic partner, as did the European Social Innovation and Impact Fund (ESIIF) and existing investors such as SistaAct, capacura and NRW.BANK. The round was supported by FASE, an impact finance adviser.
everwave develops and operates solutions for cleaning waterways, using proprietary waste-collection boats, barriers, manual clean-ups and AI-supported analyses. The aim is to intercept plastic waste in rivers before it reaches the oceans. A central element of the business model is a certified plastic credit system that enables companies to directly finance the recovery of plastic waste and transparently offset their plastic footprint. According to the company, since its founding, more than two million kilograms of waste have been removed from waterways in countries such as Thailand, Cambodia and Albania. In addition, the company is building local recycling infrastructure and creating local jobs.
With the funding, everwave plans international expansion – in particular with new locations in South-East Asia – and the further development of its technologies for cleaning waterways. The start-up aims to strengthen its position as one of Europe’s leading impact companies in the areas of water quality, waste management and the circular economy.
Clemens Feigl, CEO and co-founder of Everwave, emphasises the importance of the financing: “We are proud to welcome the Viessmann Generations Group and KSK-Wagniskapital GmbH as notable investors at Everwave.”
The Osborne Clarke team that advised KSK-Wagniskapital on this transaction comprised Benedikt Hülsmann (lead) and Nicolas Gabrysch (partner responsibility) (both Corporate / VC).
