Jamil is a contentious construction lawyer with significant experience across the lifecycle of litigation, adjudication and mediation matters. He is also skilled in dispute avoidance and swift resolution with experience in drafting pre-action advice and drafting and negotiating settlement agreements and remediation agreements. He has experience in advising developers, institutional investors, private individuals and other members of the construction industry on complex, multi-party high-value disputes. This experience covers a number of sectors including residential towers, commercial property, rocket engine testing facilities, university buildings and TV/film studios.
Jamil's practice encompasses a broad range of areas including termination, payment provisions, delay, final account claims, professional negligence claims and defect claims. He has particular experience of building safety claims; (including fire safety and structural defects claims); ranging from negotiation of remediation contracts, advice on claim exposure and advancing High Court claims against multiple construction parties. This has included pursuing claims against insolvent parties' insurers under the Third Parties (Rights Against Insurers) Act 2010 and against associated corporate entities by way of a building liability order under the Building Safety Act 2022.
Jamil holds an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from King's College London, where he was awarded a Distinction for his dissertation on remedies for defective dwellings under English law.

I am passionate about helping clients avoid disputes before they arise and/or resolve disputes to meet their objectives. I regularly deliver training and presentations on dispute avoidance and resolution strategies, and I have authored multiple case law articles, including contributions to a series on building safety claims for Estates Gazette. My academic research at King's College London focused on improving the clarity of remedies available to those affected by defective dwellings, an area where I continue to take a keen interest.
