Dr Till Gerhardt advises leading companies in the Retail and Consumer, Financial Services and Technology, Media and Communications sectors on all aspects of data-related law.

A particular focus of his practice is data protection law, including the interfaces with adjacent legal areas and legislation such as the Data Act and other digital and data-related regulation.

Till has been regularly speaking at conferences on data law topics for many years and publishes articles in legal journals.

His advisory focus includes, among other things:

  • Strategies for the compliant use and monetisation of customer data
  • Designing and assessing measures to prevent fraud in e-commerce
  • Data protection advice on the use of online tracking tools
  • Advice on data access and usage rights in relation to IoT devices
  • Structuring and legal design of customer loyalty and rewards programmes
  • Negotiation and drafting of contracts with service providers and partners

Till has completed several secondments in the legal departments of major corporations and is therefore very familiar with internal processes, decision-making and practical in-house challenges.

Before joining Osborne Clarke, he worked as a lawyer at another international law firm.

Till studied law in Greifswald and Prague. He completed his legal traineeship in Hamburg, Berlin and Madrid, including working for two international law firms.
