Navigating the authorisations process for cryptoassets

As part of our Future of Financial Services 2026 series we will be hosting an exclusive, closed-door roundtable with Val Smith from the Financial Conduct Authority to explore the impending cryptoassets authorisations regime and the evolving authorisations process.

On 30 September 2026, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will open its doors to authorisation and variation of permission applications for the new cryptoassets-related regulated activities. The new regime will come into force on 25 October, and firms must have any new permissions in place by then.

This interactive forum will be an opportunity to hear from the regulator, test your thinking, ask questions and benchmark your plans against peers, while gaining strategic insights into what the authorisations process will mean for your business. We will focus on how to position your authorisation project to maximise efficiency and certainty, and where the FCA is placing its emphasis in terms of expectations, scrutiny and areas of concern.
