International law firm Osborne Clarke has appointed Miguel Perez Guerra as a Partner in its London office. With expertise in digital markets, technology and retail, Miguel strengthens Osborne Clarke's European competition and antitrust practice.
Miguel joins from drinks giant AB InBev, where he was Director and Head of Antitrust, IP and Commercial Law, overseeing competition matters across Europe and advising on strategic issues involving distribution, e‑commerce, digital platforms and regulatory compliance.
With almost 20 years’ experience in competition law, 12 of which were in-house, Miguel has held senior antitrust roles at a number of global businesses. He spent a decade in household tech firms, including Google, where he handled the European Commission's antitrust investigation into Android and the Google/Fitbit merger clearances; and PayPal, where he was the Head of Antitrust in Europe. He brings unparalleled in-house antitrust experience handling high-profile investigations, merger control, litigation and compliance across the EMEA region, and has been closely involved in the development and application of emerging digital and platform regulation.
Being dual‑qualified in EU and English law, and with extensive experience of the Brussels market, Miguel also strengthens Osborne Clarke’s growing Brussels capability and reinforces the firm’s ability to offer seamlessly coordinated UK and EU competition advice. Earlier in his career, Miguel worked in the competition teams of international law firms in both Spain and the UK. He is also a non‑governmental Advisor to the European Commission at the International Competition Network.
“Regulators are sharpening their focus on digital markets, platforms and consumer‑facing businesses, and our clients need advisers who combine technical excellence with a deep understanding of how these issues play out inside global organisations. Miguel’s impressive in-house experience, together with his Brussels and EU law background, significantly deepens our competition offering and supports the continued growth of our work in digital markets.”
“Osborne Clarke has a strong reputation advising clients across a wide range of innovative sectors, and particularly in the technology, media and communications space. Having spent much of my career in-house at global businesses and working closely with EU institutions, I’m looking forward to helping clients navigate complex competition issues – from conducting investigations and litigation to merger control and compliance – in a pragmatic and commercially focused way.”
