Partner Stefan Deswert heads the commercial-litigation team in Brussels.
Stefan specialises in distribution, retail, logistics, infrastructure and real estate. He has an in-depth knowledge of contract law, in particular e-contracts and commercial contracts. His practice covers a wide range of local and cross-border litigation issues, as well as construction litigation and arbitration.
Recognised as an experienced litigator, Stefan advises clients on complex multi-jurisdictional litigation. He mainly advises leading brands in the digital world and retail industry throughout Europe and the US. Stefan has solid know-how within the field of setting up warehouses, strategic logistic centres and flagship stores.

Advising Safran Aircraft Engine Services Belgium (SAESB) on the expansion of its new B118 facility at Brussels Airport, including drafting and negotiating the memorandum of understanding and right‑to‑use agreement with Brussels Airport Company, construction contracts and public tendering, with the key agreements signed in H2 2024.
Assisting American Express with Belux debt services, handling over 1,200 bad debt cases, of which around 250 have resulted or will result in court proceedings in Belgium and Luxembourg. Our approach has delivered the highest recovered amounts in Europe (relative to the number of debtors) for this client, demonstrating our capacity to manage large‑volume contentious portfolios with strong results (aggregate value approx. €6 million).
Acting for Rema Tip Top AG, a market leader in specialist automotive and surface protection products, in a long‑running, business‑critical contractual dispute with Belgian counterparties involving exclusivity, alleged wrongful termination, unfair market practices and trade mark‑related issues. We secured a favourable cease‑and‑desist judgment in 2022 before the Dutch‑speaking Commercial Court of Brussels ordering the defendants to stop unfair market practices, and we continue to represent the client in complex, multi‑track proceedings before the Commercial Court and Court of Appeal in Brussels (dispute value approx. €4 million)
