We are delighted to invite you to our session “Fundraising Mechanics and Current Venture Capital Trends in Israel” where we will be exploring the differences between Israel and Germany regarding deal terms in Venture Capital transactions and current market trends in the Israeli start-up eco-system. It is widely known that business is done differently in the middle east, but how do the legal aspects of a deal actually differ from German transactions? What trends are to watch in the so-called Silicon Wadi? And what is the best way to connect German investors with Israeli start-ups? We are excited to welcome:

Ron Abelski – Ron is a partner at Epstein Rosenblum Maoz in Tel Aviv. As a native German speaker with vast experience in relation to transactions of German entities in Israel, Ron also heads the firm’s German desk. Ron’s practice encompasses all aspects of corporate law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity transactions.

Dr. Markus Gick – Markus is a managing partner at xdeck, a start-up accelerator program for Cologne-based start-ups, and has also co-founded the NRWalley start-up association. During his time at the Bertelsmann Foundation, he created the first German-Israeli Innovation Exchange Program for German Mittelstand companies in North Rhine-Westphalia with Israeli start-ups.

Mali Baum – Mali is a serial entrepreneur, investor, mentor and community leader. Mali founded WLOUNGE, a network for start-ups, VCs, and corporates supporting female founders and diverse teams. Mali is also an active expert and jury member at the European Commission (EIC program), which offers financial support to highly innovative small and medium-sized enterprises with a strong ambition to grow on the global market. Her global career is bringing many business opportunities to the European economy from the US, Africa, Asia, and Israel.

Dana Alpar – Dana is an associate at Osborne Clarke in Berlin.She advises national and international investors, funds, technology-driven companies, and start-ups from early-stage to exit on venture capital and M&A transactions as well as other corporate matters.A focus of Dana’s work is providing legal guidance to venture capital funds, start-ups, and large corporations in technology-driven industries. She represents clients from Europe, USA and Asia.

Maximilian Vocke – Maximilian is a partner at Osborne Clarke in Berlin. He is experienced in various corporate transactions, particularly M&A, joint ventures and Venture Capital. He specialises in representing both investors and companies who are forming, scaling, and investing in emerging growth companies and start-ups through the company’s life cycle. His primary focus is on the digital business, healthcare and financial services sector (FinTech).
