Jonathan is a partner and head of our pensions team, advising employers, trustees, members and product providers in relation to all aspects of pensions law and practice. Jonathan has particular expertise in the pensions aspects of corporate acquisitions and disposals, scheme mergers, insolvencies, restructuring and wind-ups and acts for both employers and trustees in applications for clearance to the Pensions Regulator.
He also advises on funding and investment issues, as well as pensions disputes matters, most recently acting for representative beneficiaries in a number of high profile rectification and construction cases.
He is also heavily involved in scheme documentation, scheme mergers, occupational pension scheme amendments, re-constructions and wind-ups (inside and outside of the Pension Protection Fund) both as legal adviser and as Managing Director of Open Trustees Limited. Open Trustees Limited is on the PPF Trustee Advisory Panel.
Jonathan graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1997. He qualified in 1999 at Martineau Johnson, leaving as an associate to join Osborne Clarke in 2002. He was made partner in May 2006.
Jonathan was previously a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers’ national main committee and its education sub-committee. Jonathan was also a member of the DWP steering committee on incentive exercises.
