International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised Sunrise on their recent fundraising of €17 million to support the roll out of their ground-breaking sleep research in Europe and the American market.

Sunrise's goal is to improve the lives of millions of people who suffer from sleep disorders. To this end, Sunrise has developed a certified medical device for the diagnosis of sleep apnea. Sunrise has already obtained approval from the European (MDR) and American (FDA) medical authorities.

The Osborne Clarke team in Brussels assisted with the legal aspects of the fundraising, which was led by Kurma Partners, and included the exceptional entry of the EIC Fund, the European Commission’s prestigious deeptech programme. The tour also involved historical investors, VIVES IUF and Namur Invest and other new investors such as Sambrinvest, IMBC, InvestBW and Sofinex.

The team was led by Hadrien Chef and included Violette Keppenne, Karen Calvo Vleugels, Mathilde Drion and Olivier Lambillon. Osborne Clarke previously advised on their earlier fundraising and continues to assist Sunrise on their data privacy, commercial and IP legal issues.

Osborne Clarke regularly advises SME and listed companies in the Life Sciences and Healthcare sector on the full range of legal services.
