Osborne Clarke is pleased to welcome 12 students on this year's Talent Programme focused on unlocking talent from diverse backgrounds who are interested in pursuing a career in law.

Driven by the firm's race and ethnicity and social diversity networks, the programme provides a week's work experience with skills workshops, one-to-one sessions and an opportunity to gain insight into working at a leading international legal practice. Each student is provided with a senior and junior mentor for a year following the programme.

"It's fantastic to see the Talent Programme, an initiative developed by our employee networks, further expand this year and continue to open the door to underrepresented groups", said Kate Millar, Head of Responsible Business at Osborne Clarke.

"We know the value diversity delivers to our business - diverse perspectives can lead to greater innovation and increased creativity – which allows us to deliver better outcomes for our clients. We're committed to securing, investing in and retaining the best talent and our Talent Programme is one example of how we do this."

In February 2024, Osborne Clarke's employee diversity networks hosted a careers evening for prospective students interested in the legal profession. This included a panel with Osborne Clarke lawyers followed by a Q&A session and networking. All attendees were given the opportunity to apply for the programme.

Rajindh Mangat, race and ethnicity network Partner Champion, commented: "We're delighted to welcome our Talent Programme students for their work experience week. It's through initiatives like this, that we can provide meaningful work experience, practical tools and mentoring that can help to remove barriers and support aspiring solicitors on their career journeys."

The Talent Programme is part of Osborne Clarke's wider engagement programme to diversify its recruitment talent pool and progress its Race Action Plan. Other initiatives include the #10,000 Black Interns ProgrammeOsborne Clarke Scholars, The Bridge Programme and UWE Futures.

In addition to these recruitment initiatives, the firm also runs successful inclusion allies and reverse mentoring programmes to support retention and inclusion, as well as the Osborne Clarke Careers Programme to support development and progression of ethnic minority talent.
