The innovative technique was used for the first time by Westfälische Provinzial after the storm “Ela”. It will be offered to insurance companies in Europe and Asia enabling them to deal with damage by hail quicker and more efficient. In 2013, German insurers paid about 2.7 billion Euro to their customers in 450.000 damage cases.

An Osborne Clarke Team led by corporate partner Dr Björn Hürten advised TÜV Rheinland on this cooperation agreement. The team also included Dr Alexander Dlouhy (both corporate), Marcus Sacré, Dr Johannes Graf Ballestrem (both IP), Tanja Aschenbeck-Florange, Thomas Nagel (both finance) and Dr Thomas Lindner (antitrust).
