International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised BFB Brandenburg Kapital GmbH, a 100%-subsidiary of the Investment Bank of the Land of Brandenburg (ILB), on its investment in Kinematics GmbH through early stage growth funds. Other investors include KOELBE Unternehmensbeteiligungen GmbH, gruenwald electronic GmbH, a business angel and an industrial robotics company as a strategic partner. The investment enables the Brandenburg-based company to further develop its robotic construction sets, strengthening its presence in the retail sale of toys and exploring international markets.

ILB manages various investment funds, financing growth and innovation-focused companies based in Brandenburg. BFB Brandenburg Kapital acquires, manages, holds and sells open or silent investments in fast-growing technology companies. The early stage and growth funds is established on behalf of the Brandenburg Ministry of Economics, being financed with funds from the European Regional Development Fund and ILB’s own resources.

Kinematics GmbH has developed and produced innovative robotic construction sets named Tinkerbots since 2013, enabling children to step into the world of technology. The modular construction system can be connected with other modules like LEGO via adapters, and can be controlled with apps via smartphones or tablets.
