Giant Ventures has announced the launch of two new funds totalling US$250 million to back purpose-driven technology founders.

International legal practice Osborne Clarke advised Giant Ventures with a team led by funds partner Helen Parsonage and senior associate George Skinner. Partner Erika Jupe and legal director Elizabeth Shanahan advised Giant Ventures on the tax aspects of the fundraisings.

The US$100 million seed fund will back 25 early-stage companies, while the US$150 million climate-focused growth fund fills a major Series B climate funding gap - providing scale-up capital to the world's leading climate technology companies. Giant Ventures has already made 10 investments from the new funds, and is on track to deploy more than US$1 billion into sustainable technology this decade.

Rob Hicks, Head of Finance & Operations at Giant said: "Osborne Clarke has been by Giant's side since the early days, providing invaluable legal and tax services throughout the fundraising journey. We have built a strong relationship with Helen, George and the rest of the Osborne Clarke team, and value their diligent and proactive approach."

Helen Parsonage said: "We are delighted to have helped Giant with these latest fundraises, having enjoyed working with them since inception. It's great to see them successfully raising in this difficult market, with some great LPs coming on board."

Giant is at the forefront of supporting the most ambitious founders using technology as a force for good and has attracted capital from a broad alliance of leading institutional investors. They include BMW, Henkel, RIT Capital Partners, clients of Cambridge Associates, Stepstone, Denmark's sovereign investment fund, and The Nature Conservancy.

Osborne Clarke has a market-leading international mid-market funds practice and is widely recognised as a leading European law firm for companies operating in the technology, media and telecoms sector, working with global businesses to fast-growth start-ups and market challengers.
