Japanese conglomerate Mitsui acquires shares in RidePooling startup CleverShuttle

The international practice Osborne Clarke advised CleverShuttle and its majority shareholder Deutsche Bahn on the capital increase.

The market for alternative mobility concepts is booming. A popular segment is RidePooling, in which several passengers share a car with the help of apps - and thus reduce the individual costs for the ride. Founded in 2014, the Berlin-based company CleverShuttle offers the technological basis as an app and also implements the joint trips, exclusively with electric cars.

The Japanese conglomerate Mitsui contributes with about 12 percent to CleverShuttle. The majority shareholder remains Deutsche Bahn with about 76 percent and the founders still hold about 12 percent of the shares. The fresh capital is intended to accelerate the growth of the startup.
