Osborne Clarke has advised Brandenburg Kapital GmbH on its investment in ME Energy - Liquid Electricity GmbH. Business angels and other venture capital investors were also involved in the seed financing round of EUR 2 million.

ME Energy develops and distributes fast-charging columns that generate their own electricity independently of the power grid. While conventional charging stations need several hours to charge for a range of 200 km, ME Energy's fast charging stations are able to fully recharge within 10 minutes. From an economic point of view, the charging stations are also profitable: with only 20% of the costs and a payback period of four instead of 30 years. This opens them up to a broad customer group of petrol stations, supermarkets, fleet operators, restaurants, hotels or real estate companies and significantly increases the density of the network of charging points as regions with weaker infrastructure can also be supplied.

Brandenburg Kapital GmbH is a holding company of the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg (ILB). The funds for the Early Stage and Growth Fund of Brandenburg Kapital are provided from funds of the European Regional Development Fund and from ILB's own funds.

An Osborne Clarke team led by Corporate and Venture Capital Senior Associate Till-Manuel Saur advised Brandenburg Kapital on the investment. The team included Sarah Julia Niessen, Philipp Niedermeyer (both Corporate/VC), Dr Alexander Dlouhy, Dr Karla Klasen (both Corporate/Energy), Dr Hans-Christian Woger, Benjamin Schaum (both IT), Nils-Frederik Wiehmann and Alexander Schlicht (both Employment).
