Michael is a project finance lawyer with a particular focus on the renewables sector. He has significant experience acting for both lenders and sponsors on the financing and structuring of solar (both rooftop and ground-mounted), onshore and offshore wind, hydro, biomass and anaerobic digestion projects. He has advised on numerous construction financings and secondary refinancings and has also advised lenders in connection with a number of acquisition and revolving loan facilities provided to listed and unlisted renewables funds.
Michael's recent experience includes advising the lenders on the project financing of a construction-stage floating offshore wind farm in the North Sea, the lenders on the project financing of a run-of-river hydro portfolio located in Italy, the refinancing of a social housing rooftop solar portfolio, and on the refinancing of a 321 MW operational solar portfolio in the UK.
Michael joined Osborne Clarke in March 2020 after just over eleven years practicing in the projects team of a major City law firm, which included six months on secondment to a leading London project finance lender.
