Mark is a Partner in Osborne Clarke’s pensions team, and focuses on advising major employers in the private and public sector, and the trustees and administering authorities of their pension funds. He has been working exclusively on pension matters since the mid-1990s, and has been at the forefront of establishing the firm’s reputation in the field. He has considerable experience advising trustee boards and sponsoring employers on the full range of pension matters, including scheme restructurings, investments, scheme funding matters and governance issues for trustees.
Local authority pension fund matters are a particular focus of Mark’s practice. He leads the firm’s specialist Local Government Pension Scheme advisory team which in early 2015 was appointed to the national LGPS legal services framework panel following on from its earlier framework appointment as sole legal adviser to a number of LGPS funds in the south west.
Mark trained at Osborne Clarke and qualified in 1992, and was a member of the firm’s corporate tax department before specialising in pensions. He became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1993 and is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers. He is a former head of the firm’s Bristol office and has held a number of significant management roles within the firm.
