Why should I do a vacation scheme at Osborne Clarke?
"Within the first week I had drafted an anti-corruption policy, joined international conference calls and attended multiple training sessions. The vac scheme at OC was full of opportunities to learn and gain an insight into this friendly firm." (Mark Lloyd, future Trainee Bristol)
"At the end of the two weeks I felt confident Osborne Clarke was right for me and I was right for them…I haven't looked back since." (Julia Breknell, Trainee Bristol)
What can you learn in two weeks? A lot, if those two weeks are spent on our summer vacation programme. Of course, the more you ask the more you learn. So while we’ll give you a formal programme, it’s up to you to make the most of it.
You’ll get involved in real client work. You’ll spend time in two different departments and get a feel for the work we do, the clients we work with and the sectors we work in.
We also organise social events where you can quiz trainees on life at Osborne Clarke over a few drinks.
What will I be doing?
You’ll get a taste of what our trainees do from day to day, for example:
- attending and taking notes at client meetings
- preparing document bundles
- helping with disclosure and researching cases.
You’ll work with a trainee in the team, who’ll give you support when you need it. You’ll also have a senior lawyer on hand to answer any tricky questions and give you feedback at the end of each week.
If you enjoy your placement, and we think you’ve done well, you’ll be invited to an interview on your last day with us.
Please note that the application deadline for our vacation scheme is 31 January 2012. You can learn more about the process and apply here.
