Intellectual Property & Licensing
divider
For many companies, intellectual property (IP) is not just a valuable element of their business, it is their competitive edge. We work with our clients to develop and implement IP protection and enforcement strategies to leverage their IP assets.

We appreciate how important it is to protect and enforce your IP. After all, market share is often at stake. We are available as a one-stop-shop for reliable, up-to-date advice on all your intellectual property issues. You will have at your disposal a top team of European lawyers, with access to further international lawyers, thus providing a co-ordinated approach to help you protect your IP around the world.

We specialise in the management, exploitation and protection of all types of IP, including patents, trademarks, copyright, designs, database rights and trade secrets or know-how. At the heart of the IP team are lawyers experienced in structuring, drafting and negotiating IP transactions. But our expertise goes further still, covering brand portfolio management, exploitation advice, licensing and deal support on IP-rich corporate transactions.

In addition, our clear expertise in the marketing communications and retailing arenas enable us to provide you with a dedicated team of lawyers advising on all areas where branding, marketing and sales processes interact with the law.

We also deal with the full range of IP disputes, including anti-counterfeiting; confidential information and trade secrets; passing off/unfair competition and parallel imports; and cybersquatting disputes.

Our experience and client-oriented approach has attracted many significant organisations, including clients from franchising, technology, media, film, TV, radio, advertising, design, interactive entertainment, music, publishing, sports, motor manufacturing and biosciences.

Our active membership of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents, LES, the International Trade Mark Association and the Anti-Counterfeiting Group also helps us keep up-to-date with current issues and best practice.

Examples of our recent experience include:
  • Drafting and negotiating international branding licence for Links of London for the Gulf States territory to roll out the Links retail stores in Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
  • Continuing to manage Eurostar's trade mark portfolio including acting in various trade mark oppositions in the UKIPO and the CTM registry, drafting co-existence agreements and adivising on IP issues arising from the opening of the HS1 line and St Pancras International station.
  • Advising Penn Pharmaceuticals on its IP strategy and and IP partnering agreements following the Company's buyout by LDC.
